Hey Guys!
My name is Porshia and I am a freshman, or a first year if that is more politically correct, here at UNC. I live in Horton dorm on South Campus. Reading the poem on the first day of class about George Moses Horton taught me a lot about the history of the figure my dorm is named after and reinforces the historical richness that UNC has to offer. Right now I am a declared psychology major and a chemistry minor. I want to eventually go to medical school and work in geriatrics with Alzheimer's and dementia patients. I'm from the mountains of North Carolina; I've lived there my whole life but I don't plan on going back after I graduate from college and medical school. I have a younger brother, Robert, who is very close to me. This semester, I decided to use some of my extra free time by volunteering at the hospital working in the geriatric psychiatry area. Any other free time that I may have that isn't taken up by studying or community service is filled with watching Grey's Anatomy or spending time with my friends. I signed up for this class partly because it fulfilled one of my many requirements, but its actually starting to seem like I may enjoy it more than I expected to.
