Hello!

Obviously no one is going to post an introduction until I've provided an example, so here goes: I'm Kelly Ross. I am writing my dissertation on the origins of detection fiction in the antebellum United States. I'm excited to teach this class because I like hearing new perspectives on books I've read several times and because I enjoy working with students to improve their writing.

Some random facts about me: I am from Virginia originally but I’ve lived in Chapel Hill/Carrboro for about 7 years. When I am not writing furiously in my carrel in Davis I like to practice yoga and play Rock Band. My favorite band is the Beatles and I can't wait until the Beatles Guitar Hero game comes out. As you can tell from the title of this post, I am terrible at thinking of titles. Over winter break I was in San Francisco and I visited the SF Museum of Modern Art, where I saw this fabulous exhibit on 19th-century science photography.

I look forward to getting to know each of you!

By the way, your homework is:
1) Post an introduction on the course blog by midnight Friday.
2) Read NAGP pgs. 54-103.
