Hello to all! My name is Katherine Key and I am a sophomore double majoring in Political Science and Peace, War, and Defense. I am living in Spencer this year, which is definitely an upgrade from having to trek all the way from south campus last year. I am originally from Greensboro, NC and I love that it's only a hop and a skip away from Chapel Hill. Growing up I played classic soccer for the GYSA Twisters and horse-showed competitively on the hunter/jumper circuit, so basically I had no social life. Obviously, I really enjoy being active and my new found obsession would have to be Zumba at the SRC. I am fairly certain I look extremely awkward attempting hip-hop moves and jazzercise at the same time, but it's just so much fun. I also really enjoy cooking and baking on the weekends. I can make a mean key lime pie guaranteed to knock your socks off. Another interesting tidbit about myself is that my boyfriend, Adam, recently proposed to me and I accepted. This day and age it's a rare thing for an undergraduate to be engaged, so a lot of people find it intriguing. Of course the wedding won't be until after I graduate because my primary focus is my education. But, our plans are to move to Washington, DC after we are married, where I will most likely attend law school (I am crossing my fingers for Georgetown). Anywho, I guess to sum it up, my favorite book is East of Eden by Steinbeck, which is where I derived the title of this blog.
"But the Hebrew word, the word timshel---'thou mayest'--- that gives a choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open."
